Data sources can be configured by administrators. There are currently six types of data sources that can be made accessible on Ankeri.
- API connection to s-Insight by StormGeo
- XML export from s-Insight by StormGeo
- API connection to ShipDB by vesseltracker.com
- API connection to SDBnet by MAC System Solutions
- Excel file from IHS Fairplay
- Class and dry docking information from IACS/Equasis
For more information about how to retrieve each of the data sources refer to the providers documentation and websites.
For information on how to map information from data sources to fields in Ankeri, refer to Fields on ship profiles.
Configuration of data sources
Interface for configuration of data sources is accessible under Settings where configured data sources are listed and new can be added.
To add a new data source, click on the plus (+) sign on the right top corner of each data source and follow the instructions as given in following sections. Note that a new data source is by default turned off when added and needs to be turned on to become visible to users of the system. Note that some data sources are provided by customer while other are Ankeri data sources.
Data sources can be prioritized by clicking on the arrows next to each data source title. Data sources shown on top will always have higher priority than the ones below. This also affects the way data sources are shown to users when updating ship profiles. Note that each data field can have customized prioritization.
Navigator Insight XML can have multiple instances of files available at given time, only one can be turned on and visible to users. Adding a new XML file as a source does therefore not affect other files that have been uploaded and administrator can easily switch between files being used. Same applies to the IHS Fairplay data source.
ShipDB does on the other hand only offer one connection at a time. All changes made to the configuration will therefore overwrite older configurations.
DNV GL Navigator Insight BI, Vessels in class and Ship owner as a data source are data sources that must be configured by Ankeri.
Configuration of Navigator Insight BI (API)
To add connection to Navigator Insight BI as a data source please contact Ankeri at support@ankeri.net or by submitting a request.
Note that Navigator Insight BI connection only fetches active ships at any given time. For import of older history of vessels you need to export all vessels from Navigator Insight to XML and then import that document as Navigator Insight XML data source in Ankeri.
Configuration of Navigator Insight XML
To add Navigator Insight as a data source you first need to export the XML file from your Navigator Insight system. Refer to Navigator Insight documentation for further instructions on how to do that.
Once you have the XML export available, click on the +Add new XML from Navigator Insight link on the top right corner of the Navigator Insight data source. By doing so you will be greeted with a dialog like the one shown below.
Simply click on the Select XML file to upload button and follow the instructions given to upload a new Navigator Insight data source.
Configuration of IHS Fairplay
For companies that have a subscription to IHS Fairplay data can upload the Excel file as received from IHS Fairplay.
Once you have the XLSX (Microsoft Excel) file available, click on the +Add new XLSX file from IHS Fairplay link on the top right corner of the IHS Fairplay data source. By doing so you will be greeted with a dialog like the one shown below.
Simply click on the Select XLSX file to upload button and follow the instructions given to upload a new IHS Fairplay data source.
Note that the file must have a sheet named Ships where the first column gives the IMO number of each ship.
Configuration of ShipDB
To add ShipDB as a data source you first need to have a subscription to ShipDB that gives you an access to the ShipDB API with an access token. Once you have that API token at hand, it can be used to configure a connection by clicking on +Add/edit ShipDB connection.
When you click on the Add token button, the connection will be tested to verify if the access token is valid.
Note that different subscriptions to ShipDB may provide different fields in the API response. For instruction on how to map results from API calls to individual fields on ship specification refer to article about adding/editing fields.
If you do not have subscription to ShipDB, you can either contact Ankeri or Vesseltracker directly to get more information.
Configuration of M.A.C. System Solutions SDBnet
To add SDBnet as a data source you first need to have a subscription to SDBnet that gives you an access to the SDBnet API with an access token. Once you have that API token at hand, it can be used to configure a connection by clicking on +Edit MAC SDBnet connection.
When you click on the Add token button, the connection will be tested to verify if the access token is valid.
For instruction on how to map results from API calls to individual fields on ship specification refer to article about adding/editing fields.
If you do not have subscription to SDBnet, you can either contact Ankeri or MAC System Solutions directly to get more information.
Configuration of Class and dry docking
Class and dry docking information is updated by Ankeri when new file is provided by IACS/Equasis on IACS website. This is usually done every Friday afternoon.
Information provided in this data source is limited to:
- Name of the vessel
- Classification society
- Date of last dry dock
- Date of next scheduled dry dock
